The Veterans Affairs Nebraska Western-Iowa Health Care System (NWI) serves an estimated Veteran population of 161,000 in 101 counties in Nebraska, Western Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. The health system is comprised of one tertiary care, academic medical center located in Omaha, NE; two large stand-alone multi-specialty outpatient clinics in Lincoln and Grand Island, NE and five rural Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) located in Shenandoah, IA; plus, Bellevue, Norfolk, Holcomb, O'Neil and North Platte, NE. Skilled nursing care and acute rehabilitation is provided in the Community Living Center located in Grand Island. The Grand Island VA Medical Center is currently a full-time, permanent, Dentist. This position is located at the Grand Island VA Medical Center which is part of the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. Specifically, the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions. Administer local anesthesia Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns and fixed bridge work Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth Perform routine and surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentist The scope of practice that a specific provider may perform is defined through the medical center credentialing and privileging process Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday-Friday,7:30 to 4:00.
