MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is looking for someone with a strong IT background. Someone who is able to make processes better through process improvement and Lean workflows and who is an independent and effective communicator. The position is particularly exciting because we are in the process of converting our medication distribution system and are bringing on new hardware and software for the implementation of the new workflows. The position will work with all areas of the hospital as part of a multidisciplinary team and is focused in the pharmacy. We have several other new pharmacy IT platforms which were recently implemented or will be implemented including a new point of sales system in our outpatient pharmacies and a compliance tracking system in our IV room. We also have a need for data analytics and database and report running.
Functions as a team leader or team member to test, implement, upgrade, and support Cerner, Pyxis, and Omnicell Application Systems. Maintains a detailed knowledge of the assigned application systems and programs. Assigns and maintains security levels and access to pharmacy, robotics, and automated medication dispensing systems to pharmacy and nursing employees. Pharmacy informatics is a specialty practice area and works to improve the quality of pharmacy IT and medication-management systems. The pharmacy informaticist focuses on application of technology for pharmacists in supporting, streamlining, improving workflow and increasing patient safety with best practices and reliable systems. The pharmacy informaticist must have working in-depth knowledge of all MercyOne electronic medical record and financial billing systems to ensure optimal financial outcomes for the institution as well as comply with constantly fluctuating regulatory requirements. Provides patient focused, outcome oriented pharmaceutical care to patients 10-20% of the time.

BS Pharm, or Pharm D with a minimum of 3 years hospital pharmacy experience, Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) in Pharmacy Informatics or equivalent experience desirable.
