BSW Memorial Hospital PACS/RIS Specalist Full Time Thursday- Sunday JOB SUMMARY
The PACS/RIS Specialist provides daily support for work processes in Radiology related to the computer systems used to support Radiology operations. These systems include PACS, RIS, Voice Recognition and others that may be used in the department. This position requires a healthcare/healthcare IT understanding for assisting in system selection, implementation, security and on-going utilization of the applications. This person functions as a contact for operational issues and provides training for end users.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Acts as a liaison between programming departments and/or vendors as required to participate in system upgrades, troubleshooting, and implementations. Monitors system activities/resources and diagnoses system hardware and software problems, validates computer workstations, resolves problems according to established policies and procedures. Documents all problems and places equipment service calls to the respective vendors, including appropriate follow-up. Coordinates end user access, provides training and technical support to radiology system end users as needed. Maintains knowledge of current operating procedures and standards. Provides after hours, weekend, holidays, on-site support, on rotational basis to multiple facilities or provides on-call assistance as needed. Works on multiple concurrent projects in addition to routine support activities. Effectively communicates upgrades/downtimes to end users and supports operational activities during the downtime and recovery process. Transcribe orders into Epic EHR for all outside interpretations orders. This function is a 24/7 requirement. Demonstrates coordination and participates in groups focusing on patient safety, customer service, performance improvement, environment of Care, Employee Engagement, Physician Engagement, Quality Improvement, Inter-Departmental Relations, etc
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
General computer skills, including but not limited to: using required software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand held scanning and email. Knowledge of imaging equipment, processes and quality standards. Able to take call, if required.
