This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Social Work Service is currently recruiting a GS-12 Senior Social Worker for the Trauma Recovery PTSD Intensive Outpatient Program at the Menlo Park Division of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. The incumbent works primarily in the PTSD Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), but also provides coverage in the men's and women's residential Trauma Recovery Programs (TRP). Major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs specialized assessment, case management, treatment, and discharge planning for program clientele with PTSD and related comorbidities. Treatments may include Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other relevant evidence-based therapies and practices. Incumbent incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veteran and active duty clients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Provides individual, group, and/or family psychotherapy (which includes evidence-based interventions) and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of Veterans and active duty service members with PTSD and possible co-occurring polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and other co-occurring conditions. Establishes continuing relationships with program clientele, evaluating progress towards goals and adjusting treatment plans as appropriate. Meets with Veteran and active duty clients to assess accomplishments and re-establish goals. Monitors client progress, maintains timely and comprehensive documentation, ensures expert diagnosis and treatment of PTSD and related co-morbidities, and shows competent discretion in decision to adjust treatment. Makes recommendations for care and changes to the TRP/IOP interdisciplinary treatment plan during the daily TRP/IOP multidisciplinary team meetings. Documents independently, in a timely, comprehensive, and professional manner, in the client's medical record utilizing paper and/or electronic formats, including biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostics, treatment, treatment planning, progress notes, follow up, discharge planning, and referral. Offers consultation to colleagues and students on biopsychosocial assessment and treatment of clients with PTSD and related comorbidities, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise, and role-models effective social work practice skills. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 Am to 4:30 PM Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Telework, if approved, would be on a regularly scheduled basis during the work week, but this is not a virtual or remote position.
