The Surgical Nurse is administratively responsible and accountable to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services through the Associate Chief, Nursing Service - Surgery and the Nurse Manager of the Acute Care Surgery Nurse Manager. The Staff Nurse applies the nursing process to systems at the unit level to improve care. Clinical responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the provision of nursing care to pre and post-operative/procedure patients. This includes patient assessment, evaluation, administration of medications, assistance in procedures, patient education, interdisciplinary care planning, care coordination and documentation of care delivered. The individual will be responsible for a full range of duties using the nursing process. Candidates must be able to walk, lift, kneel, move, push, and pull. The position may require extended periods of standing. Candidates must have the ability to stand for extended periods. Work Schedule: 7:30pm - 08:00 am, 11:30pm - 08:00 am, 11:30am - midnight, 3:30pm - midnight. Management reserves the right to determine and/or change tour of duty.
