The New Mexico VA Health Care System is seeking a Registered Nurse (Wound Care) to join the team in Surgical Service! The RN is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care activities. The nurse assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Direct care activities include coordinating with and supporting staff in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings for adults with varied wound, ostomy and continence care needs. These activities include but are not limited to assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic wounds, including surgical wounds, pressure ulcers, burns, venous, arterial, and neuropathic/diabetic ulcers, abdominal stomas, fistulas, percutaneous drains or tubes, incontinence, and general skin care. The nurse is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice and for demonstrating leadership and accomplishments when providing patient care and in the development and implementation of programs to improve the delivery of patient care. Work Schedule: 7:00am - 3:30. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.
