Wage Grade 4 Food Service Workers independently perform duties that require proficiency in special procedures. They require a broad knowledge of service operations, such as food and beverage preparation, modified diets, computer proficiency, dishwashing, dry and refrigerated storage, and safety and sanitation. Wage grade 4 workers can do all the duties of a lower grade worker, but also may help with making patient selections, thickening items and checking trays. Some duties may include: Handling and storing sanitized dishes, glasses and silverware for public use. Cleaning walk-in refrigerators and freezers in a food service or food handling organization. Using proper cleaning solutions to sanitize food preparation surfaces. Moving kitchen equipment such as stand mixers, weight scales and meat slicers to clean spaces behind and under such equipment. Loading and operating a continuous conveyor belt feeding dishwasher. Standing/walking to clear tables and carrying trays of heavy dishes for several hours or more at a time. Brewing coffee in a restaurant/commercial size coffee maker. Utilizes computer software to process and maintain records of diets, tray tickets, supplemental feedings, food preferences, and standing orders Lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Performing reliably and dependably as a Food Service Worker based on past work and/or school performance.
