The Fairview Ridges Hospital (Burnsville, MN) presents the largest state-of-the-art care to residents of the southern metro. Licensed at 150 beds, it is the most advanced emergency, surgery, orthopedic and children's care available south of the Minnesota River.

We are looking for a team player to work as a Nursing Station Technician is a combination role of a Nursing Assistant/Transport/HUC position to support our busy 12 bed Operating Room unit. Their main role is to transport patients and care for environment, suppplies and support the unit desk with answering phones/messages.

This position is M-F, 48 hours (.6 FTE) per two weeks. Shifts are will be both 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This position is eligible for benefits.

The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver limited direct patient care (transporting) and high level administrative and supply duties.In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit.Duties may include: patient cares, transporting, care of environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit.

Other job duties in the Operating Room include:
Assisting with repositioning and transporting of patients, preparation of patients for surgery, transporting case carts and specimens, and care for equipment
Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones and relaying messages as needed
Setting up and maintaining OR rooms (room turnover)
Ordering and stocking of supplies

Required

License/Certification/Registration

• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position (exception: MHealth Fairview West Bank Nursing Assistants)
  or
  Current enrollment in an RN program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for health care providers

Candidates must also possess;

• Exceptional communication skills such as clear speech, ability to read, legible handwriting, and strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and hospital procedures is required.
• A self-starter, who is passionate about creating an exceptional patient experience, will receive top consideration.
• Must be able to transport- push patients in a hospital bed.
• Must be able to work 4 Day shifts M-Friday, 8 hr shifts each week.

Prefer:

HUC experience, Transport expereince, room turnover experience. Procedural, operating room, pacu or endo environment. Ability to gain knowlege about surgical instruments and work in a fast paced, changing environment.
