Duties and responsibilities: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) 

1. The performance of US procedures as required on a day-to-day basis.
1. Echo tech will position patients and select appropriate transducer and protocol for body habitus. He/she will prepare patient for physician, obtain vital signs and assist during stress echoes.
2. The Echo Tech shall, to the best of his/her ability perform complete scans, which optimize the views, physician’s time and his/her time.
3. The Echo Tech shall work with the Patient Flow Department (receptionists) to optimize scheduling of procedures.
4. The procedures performed will be cardiac echo, stress echo (both pharmacological and treadmill), transesophageal echo, urgent and non-urgent OR and cath lab echoes, peripheral vascular, carotid duplex, renal arterial and abdominal aorta US.
5. He/she is directly responsible for the continued well-being of patient via observation and performance of US exams; errors or inadequate performance of duties may create health threatening consequences to patient.
2. Echo Tech will job-share with the practice's echo techs and alternate between the practice and the hospital on a rotation, which will include weekends.
3. Echo tech will also be available to travel within Wyoming for echo outreach, as needed or scheduled. Depending on the clinic site location, the travel time may extend into evenings. Echo Tech will job-share limited call in the evenings to cover the hospital cardiac ultrasound exams as listed above.
4. Hospital weekend coverage will be rotated between technologists.
5. Echo Tech will call patients with instructions 24–48 hours before echo stress testing. This will include the instruction to hold certain medications before testing via physician’s standing order protocol.
6. Echo tech will log and track US exams, sent by mail, or other means, to appropriate physician for recommendations, and provide yellow billing cards for the over-reads and interpretations from clinic sites.       
7. Echo tech will copy recent H&Ps and echoes to go with echo studies for interpretation and over-read along with the billing documents.
8. Completion of the patient encounter with correct patient diagnosis and exam, and have patient sign Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) appropriately and consent for patient procedures.
9. Echo tech will maintain US equipment, order and stock supplies as needed, and keep work area clean and organized.
10. He/she will maintain strict patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
1. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality as required by HIPAA and HITECH Security.
2. Computer access is limited to job description duties and responsibilities (password changes every 90 days).      
3. A confidentiality agreement is signed by all employees of the practice.
11. Must adhere to hospital and WCPS employee policies, protocols, and procedures.
12. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as required or requested.
13. Participates in staff development and educational activities.
14. Performs related work as required or requested.
