As a M Health Fairview Employee Occupational Health Nurse Workers Compensation Case Manager, you are responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of professional nursing care provided in response to potential work-related injuries/incidents. The Workers Compensation nurse case manager also liaises with internal Risk Management claims team and external QRC consultants to ensures timely submittal of accurate data. The Occupational Health nurse has primary responsibility for care and services during clinic hours.
The EOHS RN performs both independent and interdependent nursing functions. Independent functions include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of medical services for worker populations. Interdependent functions include communication strategies with various stakeholders and colleagues (i.e.: recruiting, hiring manager, infection prevention, case management, medical consultant, etc.).Maintains a safe work environment for employees and ensures safe patient care by certifying employees are infectious disease free, and physically & mentally able to perform essential job functions.
This position currently has the opportunity to work remote after all appropriate training and proficiency with the position. This position will require availability to visit associated locations, including but not limited to all Fairview hospitals/clinics.
Active injury case management, care coordination and communication including report intake, return to work activities, associated work restrictions, and follow-up.
Communicates and coordinates case management activity with injured worker and appropriate individuals including: supervisor/manager, Human Resources Business Partners, third party administrator, QRC, physician, etc.
Actively participates in creating and implementing safety improvements that are designed to protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
Provides employee occupational health services through evaluation and facilitation of appropriate medical care for injured/ill employees that improves quality and cost effectiveness of both healthcare and employee return to work.
Collaborates with Employee Health and Safety team to implement and coordinate Injury Prevention programs, Ergonomics, Respirator Protection program, annual Influenza campaign and the Safety Committees.
Facilitates return-to-work activities for occupational and non-occupational cases.
Participates in the HealthEast/Fairview Infection Control Program as it applies to employees; including Blood borne Pathogens and Tuberculosis prevention.
Creates and implements training on a variety of topics related to safety within the work place.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevantlaws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Minimum AD two year college nursing degree
Current MN RN licensure and CPR certification
Minimum two years work experience in occupational health nursing or in an area of nursing requiring independent nursing skills (i.e.: ER nursing, college health/school nursing, etc.)
Minimum computer skills must be sufficient to efficiently work with email, on-line charging, various on-line systems, etc.
BSN four year college nursing degree
Current certification as COHN-S or COHN
RN with experience or a broad understanding of hospital EOHS processes and infection prevention practices
