You Will Be Responsible For:
Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, medical staff, departmental and administrative information
Performs departmental projects as assigned accurately and completely, communicating relevant information to supervisor
Enters new prescription orders assuring that all information is correct including proper patient, drug, medication directions, refills, and physician are selected at order entry.
Selects correct medications when processing or filling a prescription (checks NDC code) ensuring the prescription is filled correctly and does not activate drugs into inventory without the assistance of the buyers.
Verifies that all member and dependent information is updated and accurate including address, allergy information, phone number, and payment method.
Always works within Registered Technician mandated scope of practice
Leaves adequate and understandable notes in the memberâ™s profile and prescription order(s) for any and all issues that needs to be communicated to other staff members
Processes and records all data for refill write-ups, IVR, and WEB refills on a daily basis communicating progress with supervisor, ensuring service standards are met.
Contacts physicianâ™s office for any clarification, within registered pharmacy technician scope of practice guidelines, regarding missing prescription information and follows up with inquiring in a timely manner based on pharmacy processes, contacting the patient as necessary.

Education and Experience Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
1 year of retail or mail-order pharmacy setting.
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:
A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; or to be obtained within first year of employment as a technician. Must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Accuracy and attention to detail for long periods of time; excellent organization skills.
Ability to interpret prescription and knowledge of the generic names of medications and medical terminology; vast understanding of mathematical principles to perform pharmaceutical calculations.
Ability to critically think through situations with good problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of retail and/or mail order pharmacy operations; must be able to perform pharmaceutical (arithmetic and algebraic) calculations, interpret prescriptions, and handle frequent interruptions.
Must be able to multitask efficiently with other assigned duties and be ready to accept calls with calm demeanor as assigned
Displays good customer service skills when dealing with patients on the phone and is able to answer calls with a calm, professional, and pleasant manner
Basic to moderate proficiency skill set in MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
The Customer Service Technician performs a wide variety of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive consistent care. This position is responsible for the timely processing of prescription refills and answers incoming calls into the pharmacy call center. In addition, the customer service technician assists in the print/processing, accounting function of the pharmacy and contacts members for prescription follow up as assigned. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.
