You Will Be Responsible For:
Â·Formulates, implements and evaluates an individualized plan of care for each patient, based on identified needs/problems, in collaboration with the patient/significant others.
oProvides all aspects of therapeutic nursing care, based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served:
oPhysically assesses each patient and identifies needs/problems within the time frame established in nursing standards and protocols.
oEstablished and prioritizes nursing diagnoses for all patients, based on initial assessment data.
oDevelops and documents a plan of care for all patients, based on the medical and nursing diagnoses identified during the initial assessment.
oImplements and documents nursing actions that promotes the maintenance, restoration or rehabilitation of the patient's psycho-social and biophysical well-being.
oIdentifies and documents discharge planning needs.
oIdentifies and documents patient/family educational needs.
oEvaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care and makes revisions on an on-going basis.
Â·Assures the implementation of the prescribed medical regimen, including but not limited to:
oAdministration of all IVâ™s, blood and blood products, in accordance with established nursing standards and protocols.
oAdministration of all medications, in accordance with established nursing standards and protocols, with no more than three (3) variances per year.
oPerformance of treatments and procedures without deviation from established nursing standards and protocols.
oDemonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served:
oImplementation of physicians' orders on all patients.
Â·Assures the accurate processing of physicians' orders, including but not limited to:
oDocumentation of all verbal and telephone orders on the Physicians' Order Sheet, indicating the date and time received.
oDocumentation of the accurate processing of physicians' orders with signature, date and time.
Â·Assures the documentation of the patient's response to nursing plan of care in all areas of the medical record, in compliance with established nursing standards and protocols.
oEnsures that documentation is concise, legible and completed prior to the end of the shift.
oCorrects errors in documentation according to established nursing policy.
Â·Prescribes delegates and coordinates all nursing care as defined by and provided throughout the hospital.
oPrescribes patient care activities to accomplish and nursing plan of care.
oDelegates aspects of patient care to appropriate nursing staff based on staff qualifications and competence.
oCoordinates nursing care in conjunction with therapies directed by other disciplines.
oEstablishes priorities for treatment and care.
oAssures all aspects of direct patient care are met to include but not limited to: personal hygiene, answering call lights, transporting, etc.
Â·Provides for a safe and supportive environment for all patients, families and co-workers.
oIdentifies and monitors all patients and implements preventive measures according to established nursing standards and protocols.
oReports all abnormal test results, significant changes in vital signs and symptomatology to the physician at time of identification.
oFollows all infection control policies and procedures without exception.
oOperates equipment in accordance with established hospital standards to avoid physical injury or damage to equipment.
oVerifies safety of all equipment prior to utilization.
oRemoves unsafe/dysfunctional equipment from use and initiates appropriate repair process.
oAssures the availability of emergency equipment and pharmaceuticals.
oChecks and replenishes crash cart supplies and other emergency equipment according to established nursing standards and protocols.
Â§Responds to all emergency and disaster situations.
oPerforms in professional manner during crises or emergency situations.
oCommunicates the patient's response to nursing plan of care to the oncoming shift.
Â§Ensures change of shift report is complete, concise and accurate.
Â§Communicates and/or consults with appropriate personnel regarding situations requiring follow-up.
oReports observed deviations from established nursing standards and protocols or the Nurse Practice Act to the immediate supervisor in a confidential manner.
oProtects the rights of all patients.
Â·Contributes to the monitoring of the quality and appropriateness of patient care delivered.
oCompletes required Quality Improvement documentation in a timely manner.
oReports problems or concerns regarding the quality and appropriateness of patient care delivered, to the immediate supervisor.

What You Will Need:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
At least one year experience in an area of NICU Nursing preferred
Active Florida R.N. license required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within a patient care unit and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. The Nurse is responsible for supervising and responsibly directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing personnel utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgement.
