The position of Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences serves as the immediate administrative supervisor of the Division of Clinical Sciences. The Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences will provide leadership to each Division relative to faculty participation in teaching, service and scholarly pursuits. It is the goal for each Division to strive for excellence in all academic programs and to maintain an environment in which faculty and staff can grow professionally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates development and delivery of a curriculum containing sound principles of Clinical Sciences;
Supervises and collaborates with the Departmental Chairs and the Curriculum Committee to assure that proper course content and integration of medically relevant materials are presented in classes within the medical curriculum;
Provide oversight of the content of materials presented in graduate program curricula that may evolve in the college;
Provides leadership in assessment methodologies used to evaluate student performance in courses, course evaluation, and faculty performance;
Ensures continued course improvement and faculty development for basic science and clinical faculty ; and
Collaborates with senior faculty members within each Division or Department to mentor junior faculty to assure appropriate and timely growth and development of academic skills.
Research and Scholarship: assuring a comprehensive learning environment
Creates an environment conducive to faculty career development including access to materials and training required for an excellent learning environment for students, staff and faculty;
Assures the development of faculty teaching skills as well as strives to provide an environment and resources that promotes all forms of individual growth and scholarship;
Develops resources and facilities that promote faculty success through the acquisition of intramural and extramural resources by working with the Business Office and Development Office to create and implement operating procedures that are conducive to institutional and faculty success; and
Collaborates with the appropriate members of the faculty and administration to assure that policies and procedures are developed that comply with local, state and federal rules, guidelines or laws to assure a compliant and safe working environment.
Service and Community Awareness
Promotes the college and its programs through participation in committees and councils within the college infrastructure providing leadership in assuring the development of standard operating procedures that meet and fulfill requirements as set forth by accreditation bodies;
Serves on the Dean’s Cabinet and works with its membership to assure the successful implementation of the College Mission;
Represents the college locally, regionally and nationally in an appropriate manner to enhance the reputation of the college within academic and research communities and promote the success of all faculty and staff within those communities.

Qualifications: Required: Doctorate degree (DO; MD) or equivalent; demonstrated experience in effective teaching from an accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine; minimum ten years of experience in an academic setting; must hold the rank of Associate or Full Professor with demonstrated administrative experience. Preferred: Previous academic experience in an osteopathic institution or other medical college; demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Curriculum Development (medical and/or graduate program); Research and Graduate Program Administration; Campus and Laboratory Safety and Compliance; Grant and Contract Administration.
