You Will Be Responsible For:

Confers with members of the medical, surgical, and nursing staff to provide for the implementation of techniques to meet the needs of the patients.
Ensures that safety standards are met and maintained to protect patients/employees and to provide for a safe environment.
Investigates complaints and other irregularities pertaining to patient care in an attempt to prevent their recurrence.
Ensures that current decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization techniques are employed in the processing and delivery of sterile supplies.
Provides for and participates in the research of work studies, trends and comparison of productivity and work habits which will assist in providing adequately for staffing needs, population growth, and expansion of services within the facility and within the community.

Establishes methods and work performance standards for the preparation and handling of supplies and equipment.
Assesses manpower needs according to productivity and utilizes workflow patterns by providing the necessary support data.
Provides for and regularly plans for evaluation, counseling, and discipline of unit members.
Supervises the daily performance of all employees and implements training procedures. Provides both positive feedback and constructive criticism to employees in order to improve performance.
Actively participates in assigned committee work to become acquainted with administrative procedures, intentions, and changes which will affect the overall management of the department on our campus as well as CW.

Utilizes resources effectively, efficiently, and safely.
Assists in developing and implementing the annual unit budget for capital equipment, salary, and non-salary expenses.
Maintains and monitors labor tracking statistics within benchmark standard. Has an action plan and/or justification for variances.
Monitors periodic Income and Expense reports to maintain compliance within identified percentage parameters set annually. Assists in development of corrective action plan to respond to variances from identified parameters.
Encourages creativity among employees to generate, implement and evaluate cost effective practices.
Identifies unit improvement needs and makes appropriate recommendation to department head annually and as needed.

Ensures that a sufficient supply of equipment and items are readily available to meet needs and to allow for care and treatment of patients and staff.
Sanctions all necessary changes and implementation of new policies, procedures, and practices before they are made.
Relationship with Board of Trustees: non-direct, through Director, Surgery.
Hospital Committee Membership
Maintains knowledge of new trends and developments in Nursing/Central Sterile Processing through community educational programs, Hospital in-service meetings, and professional journals.
Annually evaluates and updates goals and objectives for professional and unit development during annual program and budget planning.
Maintains membership in IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service/Materials Management).
Participates in appropriate professional associations and community organizations.
What You Will Need:
Thorough knowledge of sterilization, surgical techniques, instruments, patient care equipment and processing systems and equipment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate written or verbal instructions accurately.
High School graduate or equivalent
Four (4) yearsâ™ experience as a certified central supply or operating room technician
Associateâ™s or Bachelorâ™s degree preferred
Graduate of an accredited school or practical nursing preferred
Three (3) yearâ™s supervisory experience in a healthcare facility supply area preferred
The Central Service Manager is responsible for directing, controlling and coordinating all activities within the Central Sterile Department.Directs and evaluates all personnel assigned according to Hospital nursing and unit philosophy and objectives.Serves as a resource person guiding staff in the development of their skills and capabilities.Complies with Hospital and Central Service Department policies/guidelines concerning conduct, dress code, and goals and objectives.
