DEPARTMENTS OF PSYCHIATRY – MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL
The MGH Department of Psychiatry has an outstanding attending opportunity on the Addiction Consult Team (ACT). As part of ongoing efforts to improve the delivery of care amongst patients with substance use disorders, ACT provides specialty inpatient addiction consultation for patients admitted to the general hospital including on the medical, surgical, and obstetrical services. This novel approach to care incorporates the use of a multi-disciplinary and multi-practice service, with addiction medicine clinicians from both psychiatry and internal medicine, along with advanced practice nurses, social workers, recovery coaches, and trainees from medicine and psychiatry. This role will be to provide expert addiction consultative care to all patients followed by the ACT service. Duties include assessment, determining a treatment plan, withdrawal management, initiating maintenance pharmacotherapy, and developing an effective disposition plan, in close collaboration with other team members. The position may include faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School in Psychiatry at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Candidates should be: board certified/board eligible in Psychiatry, have MA license or be expected to apply for MA license, board certification in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry is strongly encouraged, waivered to prescribe buprenorphine (have a DEA X number), have experience with caring for patients with SUDs, and be dedicated to excellent clinical care and teaching.
