Certified Institutional Review Board (IRB) Professional (CIP)
Experience working with research studies involving human subjects.
6 - 10 years of related experience.
Previous management or supervisory experience.
Demonstrated self-discipline and independent judgment completing highly complex, broadly defined assignments. Advanced knowledge and ability to apply all relevant Federal, state, and university regulations policies, and federal guidance documents. Strong proficiency in public speaking, and writing. Advanced knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design; scientific research concepts and terminology. Conflict of Interest: Understanding of stock options, consulting agreements and other corporate documents related to research and ability to analyze potential conflicts of interest. Ability to work in high-volume, high-pressure and fast-paced environment and successfully manage and prioritize a large task list with deadlines, frequent interruptions and competing deadlines. Understand socio-behavioral and clinical-biomedical research paradigms and apply regulations appropriately. Detailed knowledge of substantial body of regulatory information regarding the protection of rights and welfare of human research participants (DHHS, OHRP, FDA, HIPPA). Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and as an effective team player. Ability to interact verbally and in writing with faculty with professionalism and decorum. Ability to identify and resolve complex issues, potentially involving numerous stakeholders. Ability to lead and mentor others. Ability to identify the need for expansion/improvement in policy, process and procedure, and to analyze, develop and promote the necessary change.
Knowledge of UCOP-specific policy and procedures involving the use of human subjects, stem cells, and conflict of interest issues.
Advanced understanding of the University's research mission.
