The Rehabilitation Specialist under the direction of the Manager of Therapy provides program oversight and supervision for therapy and nursing services of Rehabilitation to ensure the smooth operation of services. The Rehabilitation Specialist will work collaboratively with the manager and director in identifying, developing, and implementing new programs to the community and region that meet the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Responsibilities include process improvement, staff and patient scheduling, Billing and coding audits, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance and assisting in the development of new programs and services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains daily function of scheduling staff, patients, and other resources to ensure smooth coordination of services
Promotes the business growth model of outpatient services by facilitating scheduling of patients
Manages, maintains, operates, and orders new equipment safely and correctly.
Assembles and maintains patient charts
Schedules therapy appointments, as required by department
Communicates appropriately and clearly to therapists, coworkers and physicians.
Orders supplies and assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
Completes KRONOS entries for all Staff for bimonthly payroll
Receive and process co-payments from therapy patients
Ensures process of 90-day rollovers is completed for therapists with Benefis business office
Tracks patients to ensure necessary discharge paperwork is complete
Assists in the cleanliness of the department
Ensure therapist's daily billing on EMR is dropped to allow for business office and accounting purposes
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient and staff safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Maintains patient medical records as requested
Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to staff Therapist, nursing and other hospital personnel, as appropriate.
Orders, stocks, maintain records of adaptive equipment, as requested.
Serves as Kronos resource to staff and other departments.
Assists in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of staff.
Particpates in process improvement of the department
Ability to plan and organize orientation and in-service training for unit staff members, participates in guidance and educational programs.
Monitor level of resources utilized in service delivery and determines appropriateness of resource consumption in the service; enhance effectiveness and efficiency of as well as satisfaction with patient care delivery; develop recommendations for appropriate care, redesigning as necessary and coordinate implementation.
Compile and prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions related to productivity, resources, and patient care.
Ensure all therapy and nursing staff maintain and meet licensure and education requirements.
Keep records for continuing education and licensure.
Ensure annual skills competencies are completed for all staff.
Initiate continued education and Employee Reimbursement Form for therapy staff.
Serve as a change agent and professional role model to facilitate communication and transition that supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Spectrum Medical.
Supports and carries out Benefis policies.
Participates in information management and performance improvement programs.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned by Manager of Therapy Services.
Assists Manager of Therapy Services in meeting the conditions of participation, federal, state and local regulations and standards.
Keeps up-to-date on new methods, products, trends, etc. and communicates this information to other personnel.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.

3 to 5 years experience in Supervision and Coordination of staff
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Current state Registered Nurse or Therapist Licensure or degree in equivalent management position.
