This individual will report to and collaborate with the Chief Quality and Safety Officer (CSQO) and be the dyad administrative partner for quality improvement and patient safety activities in the Delaware Valley. Her/his scope of activities will include operational and budgetary oversight for the quality/safety program in Delaware Valley including, but not limited to, patient safety, clinical quality, process improvement, regulatory compliance, and infection prevention.
Direct and administer the activities of the Delaware Valley Quality/Safety Program including supervision and development of program staff and budget management.
In conjunction with the CQSO,
Oversee all aspects of clinical compliance including organizational assessment and identification of vulnerabilities, survey management and survey follow-up, as well as oversight of communication with regulatory agencies on behalf of the clinical enterprise
Oversee implementation of activities in patient safety (including event review and response), clinical quality/ process improvement, regulatory compliance, and infection prevention
In strong collaboration with the Delaware Valley CEO, physician-in-chief, CMO, and Chief Nursing and Operations Officer, develop the strategic priorities of the program and related initiatives in alignment with priorities and programs across the Nemours enterprise
Represent Nemours/Delaware Valley Quality/Safety program both locally and nationally
Oversee the administration of QAPI activities for Nemours/Delaware Valley, in conjunction with senior leadership and the Board of Managers
Oversee the development of Delaware Valley-wide training, mentoring, and support for individuals engaged in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Supervise the quality/safety staff involved in patient safety, clinical quality/process improvement, regulatory
Operational oversight of the Delaware Valley Quality/Safety Program
Supervise the quality/safety staff involved in patient safety, clinical quality/process improvement, regulatory compliance, infection prevention and quality/safety analytics to ensure success in each of these areas
Oversee processes related to adverse event reporting and response, external reporting to regulatory agencies, root cause analyses, development of action plans to reduce clinical and regulatory risk, and implementation of quality and safety initiatives
Oversee all aspects of clinical compliance, including organizational assessment and identification of vulnerabilities, survey management and survey follow-up, as well as oversight of communication with regulatory agencies on behalf of Nemours/Delaware Valley
Serve as a quality improvement and patient safety leader and ambassador, change agent, collaborator and influencer to advance the quality improvement and patient safety goals of Nemours/Delaware Valley
Foster interdisciplinary communication and cooperation; actively work to improve staff knowledge and engagement in quality improvement and patient safety including development of institution-wide training, mentoring and support for individuals involved in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Collaborate with staff at all levels of the organization to promote a culture of safety, high reliability and integration of clinical, operational and administrative perspectives necessary to cultivate such culture and to craft patient safety and quality improvement metrics
Oversee process improvement changes, workflow improvements and creation of redundancies in order to correct identified patient safety risks. Provides leadership in collaboration with the CQSO and works closely across the enterprise with Nemours Children’s Hospital for common cause analysis of safety events to identify trends, prioritize and operationalize safety improvement initiatives, and monitor completion of action.
Collaborate and ensure alignment with the Nemours Children’s Hospital Quality/Safety program
Represent Nemours/Delaware Valley on national patient safety and quality improvement committees/organizations/initiatives as assigned
Demonstrated interest and track record of participation (and preferably leadership) in safety and quality improvements in a complex academic medical center
Formal training in patient safety/process improvement strongly preferred
Certification as a certified professional in patient safety or quality (such as CPPS or CPHQ) strongly desired. Candidate will be required to gain certification within 2 years of employment.
Working knowledge of hospital practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines
Master’s Degree in health related field or MBA
