Due to a planned retirement later in 2020, Hospice of the Piedmont is recruiting qualified candidates to fill the role of VP of Medical Services. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position is responsible for the direction of the medical care provided to those patients served by the organization. The VP of Medical Services leads a medical staff of eight providers and has oversight responsibilities in areas of compliance that intersect with medical services. The position provides clinical leadership and expertise in palliative medicine in order to promote optimal care for patients living with end of life illnesses and provides community leadership regarding the organization’s areas of expertise. Participates in the formulation and implementation of medical policies and other policies that may directly affect patient care. Collaborates with team members across the organization in order to affect clinical outcomes. As a senior leader in the organization, the position has responsibility for ensuring organizational resources are used appropriately and in furtherance of the organization’s mission to connect individuals to the care they need, on the terms they choose. The individual serves as the organization’s liaison to the local and regional medical community.

Founded in 1981, Hospice of the Piedmont is an independent, un-affiliated not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organization. Programs include hospice care, inpatient hospice services, palliative care, grief counseling and programming specific for pediatric hospice patients.
