Community Information Portland is a very large city located in the state of Oregon with a population of 647,805 people and 156 constituent neighborhoods, with diverse and available new and current single-family housing or condo/townhome living and communities at a variety of price ranges. Thanks, in part, to The Street Trust, Portland is one of America’s most bikeable cities, and is very ethnically-diverse. If you love the “great outdoors”, you will love Portland for its amazing activities and adventure, woodlands, hiking, waterfalls, scenic vistas and observing native wildlife. Only a 90-minute drive from downtown, Mount Hood National Forrest sits right in the city’s backyard and makes for a splendid winter and summer playground for daily or weekend excursions. The city government is notable for its land-use planning and investment in public transportation. Portland is frequently recognized as one of the world's most environmentally conscious cities because of its high walkability, large community of bicyclists, farm-to-table dining, expansive network of public transportation options, and over 10,000 acres (4,000 hectares) of public parks. Its climate is marked by warm, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. This climate is ideal for growing roses, and Portland has been called the "City of Roses" for over a century.
