Nemours is seeking an Employee Health Registered Nurse FULL-TIME, to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida. Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region. This position is responsible for working in accordance with objectives and established infection control protocols and under the supervision of a nurse practitioner and/or physician, serves as a Registered Nurse in the Employee Health Department. Utilizes the nursing and occupational health process to provide efficient employee health services that ensure a safe and healthy workforce is maintained in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. Position Responsibilities - Completes pre-employment and pre-participation employee health screenings. Evaluates laboratory results and provides appropriate notification to Associates, non-Associates and stakeholders. Check vital sign, administer immunizations, blood tests, and urine drug screens.
- Maintains the medical surveillance program and associated medical records. Orders laboratory tests, x-ray studies and other diagnostic services, as necessary, in order to determine job performance capabilities and to rule out communicable diseases. Assess workers comp patients and refers claims to Leave Management for administration.
- Provide first care treatment for minor Illnesses and injuries of Nemours Associates. Initiates and tests for exposures to blood borne pathogens, body fluid and Infectious disease exposure protocols and provides follow up care in accordance with Nemours policies.
- Prepares and maintains all related health service records in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Provides first aid treatment for Job-related and non-job-related Workplace Injuries. May monitor and evaluate the patient as needed
- Evaluates employees desiring to return to work who do not fall under FMLA guidelines (following written consent to return to work from their personal physicians) in order to determine any medical limitations. Coordinates employee return to work requirements with Leave Management.
- Advise Associates with issues such as substance abuse, psychosocial needs, wellness/health promotion concerns and other health or work-related concerns. Utilizes the Employee Assistance Program to assist Associates with dependencies and/or other behavioral issues and stress.
- Ensures appropriate medical inventory levels by ordering and stocking supplies, medications and vaccines as necessary.
- Contribute, maintains and delivers wellness programs that provide education and continuing health improvement. Performs ergonomic assessments and screens for current conditions.
- Delivers nursing services, including but not limited to mass flu vaccinations, TB skin testing, T-dap injections and Respiratory Fit program testing as needed for Nemours Associates.
Position Requirements: - Licensed Registered Nurse with a BSN, with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Occupational Health, patient care experience
- Must have Active FL State Nursing License to start
- The knowledge and skill set for assessment of occupational injuries including experience with exposures to BBP and communicable diseases.
- Excellent communication skills and be detail oriented with the ability and desire to use/learn new computer software systems so that errors in documentation are kept to a minimum.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team and demonstrate sensitivity and good listening skills with other members on the team.
- The capability to model and demonstrate the Nemours standards of behavior.
- AHA BLS CPR certification
- COHN certification preferred
