JOB TITLE: Medical Records Clerk (P&P) LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management Operations WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE)
JOB SUMMARY:
Receives Trauma, GCMCTRA, GSACHUNK, GBLOOMUNK, GLHUNK, HSHTRA, GSWBUNK, GJSHUNK, and Alert notifications 24/7, verifies proper documentation has been received and patient is stable prior to merging or updating. Provides 24/7 coverage for telemed and trauma transfer linking. Provides coverage for emergency fax requests of medical information for continuation of care requests, handling and reporting of deceased patients, gift of life linking, copying of QIO appeals on off hours, weekends and holidays. Scans paper medical record so information is viewable in Epic. Assigns medical record numbers for GHP members from a daily extract. Secures, issues, processes and assembles medical records. Ensures record retrieval to the hospital 24/7. Receives, verifies, and merges patients with Duplicate Medical Record Numbers for the entire health system. Works closely with the following systems and interfaces during merge process: IDX, EPIC, DQM, Siemens. (GMC, GCMC, GLH, GBH, GHS, GJSH, GSWB, and GWV), Passport, MM7, and Chart/fact. Communicates the correct information and completion of double number merges to all sites throughout the health system. Will identify corrective actions to decrease the number of duplicate medical record numbers created.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates the ability to work with large volumes of detailed information and high-pressure situations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Medical Terminology post high school required or successful completion of the Medical Terminology portion of the Geisinger SAW Program with a passing score of 70% or above.
MVS/Siemens (GMC, GCMC, GBH, GLH, GHS, and GWV), IDX, DQM, EPIC, Outlook, IDM Find (Tower), Kofax/Ascent Capture, Soft Med, MM7, MM8, Passport, EMR Linking, Word, Excel, Healthland, Geisinger Connect, and Trauma Merge Notification system.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office and hospital environment.
