Job Title: Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant Neurology Department
Location: Camp Hill, PA

Under the supervision of the physician, serves in an expanded role to assess, diagnose and treat new and established neurology patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care. Orders diagnostic testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results, gathering the data necessary in implementing the diagnostic and therapeutic plans of the physician. Prescribes appropriate medication regimens within the scope of practice of the physician assistant. Communicates appropriately with patients and referring health care providers. Manages inpatients as required and assists in the smooth, efficient operation of the outpatient clinic.
Major roles will include providing acute episodic care, continuity of care, and advocacy for all practice patients, serving as a liaison between the physicians and patients. These roles, undertaken in cooperation with nursing, staff physicians, and other department staff, may include triage, telephone communication and patient education.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports clinically to the Chief of Neurology and/or the assigned supervising physicians for all clinically related responsibilities. Reports directly to the Chief Physician Assistant of Neurosciences, or in his/her absence, the Operations Manager of Neuroscience for all non-clinical administrative responsibilities.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Must obtain and maintain BLS, and ACLS certification
Demonstrates computer literacy, accurate and timely charting via Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrates ability to function autonomously, seeking assistance as needed from collaborating physician. Demonstrates ability to work directly with patients in such a way to instill confidence and facilitate communication. Demonstrates ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse medical personnel including physicians, technicians and nurses. Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must be a graduate of an ARC approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the NCCPA and eligible or licensed the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. Eligible to participate in and/or have completed an approved ACLS program required. Current certification in BLS and an updated CPR card required.

Participation in the holiday/weekend/call schedule as indicated
The successful Physician Assistant candidate will work under the responsibility and supervision of the physician and require completion of an ARC-PA (or predecessor organization) approved physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification or eligibility and Pennsylvania State licensure.
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
The successful CRNA candidate requires graduation from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia and an RN license or license-eligible in the State of Pennsylvania.
The successful Nurse Midwife candidate works in collaboration with the physician, has a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Midwives and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. Current Pennsylvania Nurse-Midwifery license, as well as a current Pennsylvania RN license, required.
