This program encompasses the New Brunswick Main OR. The Operating Room at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospitalis a dynamic and fast paced clinical environment. As part of a care deliveryteam, the Operating Room Registered Nurse is critical in assuring safe,compassionate and competent care to all surgical patients. In order to providethe best option of care for the surgical patient, Robert Wood JohnsonUniversity Hospital will hold a Periop 101 Core Curriculum course starting inSeptember 2019. This course is designed to teach the non-operating room nursethe basics of intra-operative care through the AORN's structured 25 moduleprogram. This course consists of 12 weeks of didactic education (hrs are7:00am-3:30pm for this portion of the training) and 12 weeks of clinicalpreceptor-ship designed to build confidence in clinical practice (hours arevariable for this part of the course). Upon successful completion of the Periop101 Core curriculum course, the participant will assume a role as a RegisteredNurse within the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Operating Room at theNew Brunswick Campus. Active, valid NJ Registered Nurse license and ASN or Nursingdiploma required. BSN preferred. If candidate possesses ASN or Nursing diploma,must agree to complete BSN within five years of hire date. CPR, ACLSrequired. Registered Nurses interested in joining this program shouldbe prepared to work in a fast paced & physically demanding environment.Critical thinking and strong ability to prioritize required. Individualsselected for the program will need to complete a Perioperative 101 programagreement. This agreement will be reviewed with applicants during the interviewprocess.
