JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinator, General Surgery Educational Programs
LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center
WORK SCHEDULE: Days
WORK TYPE: Full Time
Responsible for the management, coordination and monitoring of assigned Educational Program(s) under the direction of the Department Director and Operations Director, including, but no limited to the following areas:
Educational environment including didactics, clinical rotations, quality of educational programming, program faculty and resident evaluation, program retreats, research activities
Serves as an educational specialist and consultant to the Department of General Surgery and Residency Program in the oversight of all educational programs offered by and within the Department of General Surgery. d. Makes recommendations for, and assists in the development of new educational initiatives relevant to students, residents, fellows, continuing medical education, faculty, and staff. Coordinates multiple educational research projects and assists in research design, protocol development, and implementation. The goal of this position is to enhance the educational investigational capabilities and accomplishments of the Department of General Surgery.

Demonstrates knowledge of residency regulations, governing body requirements, state licensing and Geisinger regulations.
Demonstrates knowledge of administrative principles including computer usage.

Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a team player.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or other relevant field required.
Six years of experience including project or program coordination or high-level administrative support with knowledge of graduate medical education required, preferably in the Geisinger system.
Experience in relevant educational activities (i.e. faculty development, teaching, evaluations, simulation, and curriculum development) preferred.
