The Mohs Histology Technician is responsible for obtaining and preparing tissue specimens from various body tissues to perform microscopic examination. This position performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of grossing the specimen, fixation, cutting, mounting on slides, and staining of tissue samples for the Mohs surgeon to examine. The Mohs histology technician is responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper and accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.
Processing various tissues in a timely manner.
Freezing & cutting the tissues and mounting on slides for staining.
H&E stains & special stains.
Daily maintenance of all equipment.
Routine filing of slides and blocks.
Ordering all Mohs & Lab supplies.
Keep up with CLIA regulations & logs.
Complete necessary documentation for all Mohs surgeries and other surgical procedures.
Assist Provider with any Medical Assistant duties as needed.
Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
Must have knowledge and experience with Mohs histotech process.
Must possess excellent leadership, organizational, computer, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, patients and physicians.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to operate all job-related equipment.
Ability to sit and/or stand for large portions of a workday.
Ability to reach above and below shoulder height and lift over 30 pounds.
Ability to differentiate between all colors.

About Wolverine Dermatology
We are a new dermatology office adding a Mohs surgeon this summer. We are located in the southwest Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Long term we are looking to do Mohs 4 days a week, but plan to have some time to ramp up to that as we build our Mohs practice.
