At Saint Francis Healthcare Memphis an Ultrasound Tech works with minimal supervision, performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. Exercises professional judgment in providing health care services, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. May be multi-credentialed in the area of sonography. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Performs and monitors ultrasound procedures and equipment. Follows department and hospital policies. Provides direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting. Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patientsâ�� clinical conditions while undergoing Ultrasound procedures. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patientsâ�� medical conditions or responses to treatment. Educates patients and families as needed; interactions with patients and family members result in patient satisfaction.Willing to work flexible shifts, on call coverage and/or assist in any area within the radiology department as patient load demands.
Education Required:Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography
Education Preferred:Associates degree
Experience :At least one year experience required for PRN
CertificationsRequired:Must be registered within 24 months of graduation(and 12 months of hire); BLS Certification Preferred:ARDMS or ARRT(S )
