The Cardiac Sonographer Ill is an innovative and advanced role in the echocardiography laboratory. The Cardiac Sonographer Ill position requires functioning as a cardiac sonographer with skills in advanced and intra-procedural imaging, training and updating the technical staff in advanced imaging techniques, optimizing workflow in non-invasive imaging, and maintaining inter-societal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accreditation standards in the echocardiography lab, including organizing and running quarterly meetings with staff, handling audit requests by IAC, and maintaining appropriate documentation, etc. to meet IAC requirements needed for accreditation. Works overtime when the workload and/or patient scheduling require extended hours of operation and takes call for STAT or emergency studies after hours including nights, weekends and holidays, on a rotation-basis, for a rate set according to the CBA agreement.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Must provide proof at time of interview)
Graduate of an accredited echocardiography/cardiac ultrasound program with Four (4) years of experience as a full-time Cardiac Sonographer (Must provide official transcripts at time of interview)OR Ten (10) years of experience as a full-time Cardiac Sonographer
Must possess one (1) of the following credentials (Must provide proof at time of interview) :
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential in Adult Echocardiography (AE) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) credential from CCI
Unless applicant possesses an ACS credential, applicant must demonstrate advanced Cardiac Sonography technical skills and training as defined by one (1) of the following (Must provide proof at time of interview) :
3D echocardiography training, with supporting documentation
Credential through ARDMS after taking exam and passing in at least one (1) of the following specialties:
Pediatric Echocardiography (PE)
Fetal Echocardiography (FE)
Vascular Technology (VT)
Credential through CCI in at least one (1) of the following specialties:
Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)
Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
Completion of at least fifty (50) intra-procedural transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE); including 3D acquisition for transcatheter aortic value replacement (TAVR), OR transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) OR mitral clip OR atrial septal defect (ASD)/ventricular septal defect (VSD) closure case
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Must provide proof at time of interview)
Must be able to travel to work sites throughout CCHHS, when needed
