River Hospital is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing healthcare services to the residents of Alexandria Bay, The Thousand Islands, and neighboring communities. This critical access hospital provides general medical and surgical services along the picturesque St. Lawrence River. River Hospital includes 280 employees and is governed by a 17-member Board of Trustees comprised of dedicated community and business leaders as well as hospital physician representatives. River Hospital is embarking on a $20 million capital project that will include renovating and expanding the emergency department and operating rooms, the construction of a new medical office building and the renovation of an existing administrative building.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide leadership and management direction to all aspects of River Hospital to ensure that the mission, vision, and values are achieved and sustain current high levels of quality and safety, patient satisfaction and financial performance. The CEO will serve as a highly visible leader and strong advocate for River Hospital within the community, with state and local governmental agencies, business and healthcare professional organizations, as well as other healthcare institutions.
The chosen candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience; five years in a senior-level executive role. He/She will have demonstrated experience within a community or regional-based rural acute-care hospital setting. The selected candidate will possess strong healthcare financial management skills with a track record for improving profitability within a challenging reimbursement environment. He/She will build and maintain positive and effective physician/hospital relationships with independent and employed physicians. The preferred candidate will hold an MBA, MHA or an advanced degree in a related field.
