Under the direction of the Director, Acute Pharmacy, where applicable, and/or the System Director, Acute Disease Management, the scope and breath of responsibility of the manager position will vary in scope and complexity based on the area to which the manager is assigned. In general, the manager will provide supervision of the staff, oversee the medication use process and clinical pharmacy services in their assigned area. The manager must possess and maintain the respect of the staff, function as a facilitator in a team-based environment; clearly and effectively communicate the mission, goals, directions, critical issues and values of Geisinger to the employees who work within the manager’s area of responsibility. In addition, effectively communicates the opinions, concerns, and suggestions of those employees to EP leadership.
Additionally, the manager will provide quality pharmaceutical care defined as being responsible for assuring the provision of safe, efficacious and cost-effective drug therapy for all patients. This includes developing, recommending and monitoring evidence-based pharmacotherapy care plans for patients cared for by Geisinger with emphasis on patient outcomes and quality of life. These care plans include the assessment of patient’s medications for indication, effectiveness, safety and adherence issues as well as patient and laboratory parameter monitoring, documentation requirements and outcomes. The manager will utilize integrated and routine communication with all health care professionals as well as patients concerning medication therapy management; Performs operational/clinical functions or projects as assigned; Responsible for providing education and preceptorship which meets the requirements of residency training program (where applicable) and pharmacy student programs as well as mentoring and training other pharmacists.
Mutually agreed upon goals and objectives will be established and reviewed on a yearly basis.
Works under the general direction of the Director at their respective campus(es) where applicable and/or the System Director, Acute Disease Management, and works in collaboration with all other leadership of Enterprise Pharmacy

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college and current licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy required. In the absence of a PharmD, a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy with appropriate clinical pharmacy experience will substitute.
Five years of pharmacy practice experience required. Graduation from PGY1 residency program will be counted as 2 years of clinical experience
Minimum of 1 years’ managerial or supervisory experience is preferred.
