INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST
1. The Special Procedures/Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist will perform diagnostic, fluroscopic and interventional radiology procedures under the direction and supervision of a licensed independent practitioner. The IR Technologist is responsible for patient care and for operation and maintenance of all IR related equipment. The IR technologist reports to the Lead IR Technologist, Administrative Director of Medical Imaging and the physicain leader of the IR section. The IR technologist must be ARRT registered. 2. Primary Responsibilities 1. Responsible for AIDET interactions and provides accurate preparation instructions to patient/family with the ability to answer pertinent procedural questions. 2. Knowledge of IR imaging protocols, universal protocols, sterile field requirements, radiation safety techniques and a working knowledge of all IR equipment and equipment maintenance requirements. 3. Responsible for patient safety and reporting unsafe practices and/or incidents that occur in the Medical Imaging Department and the IR suite. 4. Responsible for proper identification of all images in the PACS and accurate documentation in the electronic patient record 5. Must have the ability to work well with others. 6. Inserts gastric tubes while being supervised by a radiologist 7. Maintains supplies. 8. Regular attendance is required and this position is considered essential for purposes of staffing during severe weather emergencies and other natural disasters. 9. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, must have reliable transportation and must be able to work on an on-call basis. 10. Good communication skills are required. In addition to accepting feedback, asking questions and active communication with counterparts and all departments.
Additional Duties 1. Responsible for operation and care of all other Interventional Radiology and patient care equipment as needed. 2. Communicate scheduling delays to patients, staff and families. 3. Knowledge of file room procedures. 4. Inventory, stock supplies and cleanliness of designated work areas. 5. Ensures all emergency equipment and supplies are available and operational. Familiar with proper procedure for equipment failure. 6. Knowledge of sedation procedures.

Knowledge, Formal Education, and Training Indicate the minimum amount of formal education, training, and relevant required knowledge that is required for the job (not the level that the incumbent may have). Include training/and or education provided through colleges, universities, trade or vocational schools, military service, or formal, on-the-job training programs. The requirements listed below are guidelines, which reflect a combination of formal education, training, and relevant acquired knowledge.
ARRT registration required
Advanced certification in Cardio-Vascular is preferred
CPR certification preferred
Experience with standard use of systems used in hospital/Radiology including EPIC-Radiant, PACS, Merge, PACSScan, Powershare preferred.
Advanced knowledge of specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment preferred.
Interventional Radiology experience required.
