Under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, serves in an expanded nursing role. Gathers data and provides care necessary for implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Coordinates clinic visits, maintains responsibility for all aspects of inpatient and outpatient care, and performs clinical research. Serves as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidante, advisor, and liaison between patient/family, physicians and multi-disciplinary team. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports clinically to the assigned staff physicians within the department. Reports administratively to the Operations Manager and Trauma Program Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates effectiveness and accuracy in completing responsibilities.

Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Registered Nurse with current Pennsylvania licensure required. BSN required.
Minimum of five years clinical Medical Surgical experience required. Experience with surgical patients strongly preferred.
Willingness to obtain membership and/or participate in professional nursing / American College of Surgeons associations preferred.
BLS certification required.
Specialty certification preferred at hire or must obtain within 2 years: Certified Med/Surg Nurse (CMSRN) or CCRN.
