ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director of Business Affairs who also serves as the Center DSA, the Senior Grants Project Analyst will co-manage all aspects of proposal development and administration for the CCSG (Cancer Center Support Grant), CCSG supplements and other proposal development activity as assigned. The Senior Analyst works as part of a team as the main administrative point of contact for Cancer Center Members for the preparation and submission of cancer-research related contract and grant proposals managed by the JCCC. The Senior Grants Project Analyst will be expected to independently interpret and communicate complex, continually changing guidelines with administrative staff and current and new faculty leadership. They will also identify, prepare and analyze new data/metrics for consideration by senior leaders; and train team members in preparation for non-competing and competing continuation applications. Additionally, the Senior Grants Projects Analyst will act as back-up for limited contract and grant fund management responsibilities as assigned by the Manager. The Senior Grants Analyst is expected to maintain a working knowledge of the day-to-day programmatic, reporting, and financial activity of the CCSG and other contracts and grants for purposes of submitting non-competing and competing continuation applications and contract and grant renewal applications. The Senior Grants Project Analyst will manage the coordination of all aspects of contract and grant proposals, provide critical input to Senior Leaders, and interact frequently with JCCC members. The position requires administrative and analytical experience in multiple areas: understanding of the NCI CCSG guidelines, assembling grant proposals, managing the administrative components of the renewal process, manipulation of specific CCSG databases, and basic contract and grant and fund management duties.
Qualifications BA degree degree or at least 2 years of experience in grant administration Background knowledge and understanding of research ethics issues and ability to communicate complex ideas lucidly. Prior experience with scientific/technical writing and/or editing. Ability to be responsible for developing and improving methods and procedures for all projects managed, including attention to the flow of information and communication with faculty, staff, internal and external UCLA staff. Ability to monitor and maintain detailed records and observe internal controls. Ability to create, maintain and update various databases At least 2 years' experience in interpreting policy and analyzing data regarding operating policies and procedures. Word processing skills to prepare memos, letters, and documents with speed and accuracy. Demonstrated superior English writing skills for composing concise logical correspondence collecting and relating information using correct spelling, grammar, syntax, and punctuation. At least 2 years' experience with NIH competing and non-competing applications and proposal development procedures for various funding agencies. Ability to use and maintain a variety of office equipment including photocopiers, fax machines, LCD and overhead projectors, calculators, electric typewriters, LaserJet printers, etc. Demonstrated ability to organize tasks, set priorities, and work effectively and productively under conditions of a heavy workload and frequent interruptions, distractions, and deadlines. Ability to handle stressful circumstances calmly, effectively, and efficiently. Demonstrated ability to work in teams and independently and to set priorities that accurately reflect the importance of job responsibilities.
