The Associate General Counsel - Managed Care/Payer Relations serves as theÂ principal in-house legal support for (a) negotiation of managed care contracts and management of payer relations (e.g., local Blue Cross plans, Anthem, Aetna, etc.) for the acute and behavioral health divisions and Independence Physician Management (b) management and oversight of payer claim denials/disputes and appeals (c) oversight of owned-health Plan, Prominence Health Plan, including legal strategy and disputes.Â Identify and analyze legal issues.Â Draft key documents, review and prepare contracts - - provider/payer, vendor, management/operating agreements, etc.Â Experience with ACOs is a plus, but not necessary.Â Present clear recommendations assuring legal compliance for all levels of executive staff and facilities, including risk management, dispute resolution and health plan/provider operations (e.g., medical/case management).Â Provide other general legal services required of the company and its subsidiaries as directed by the General Counsel.
Essential Job Duties:
Researches and renders legal advice concerning health care operations including contracting, statutory application, government regulation, compliance and other issues.
Reviews and/or prepares contracts or other legal documents.
Provides advice and counsel to company officers and executives in connection with facility operations, fraud and abuse matters, transactional matters and/or litigation matters.
May retain, manage and assist outside counsel for legal matters as needed.Â
May assist in due diligence examinations in connection with company acquisitions.
Provides advice and counsel to Risk Management, Managed Care and Information Systems functions of the company.
Provides advice and counsel to Prominence Health Plan and all managed care functions for all other Company divisions.
