Arbour Hospital, a 118 bed (106 Adult/12 Adolescent) private psychiatric facility located in Bostonâ€™s Jamaica Plain neighborhood; the hospital also manages an 18 bed satellite adult psychiatric unit in Quincy. Arbour Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the MA Department of Mental Health. Position Summary Arbour Hospital is seeking a full-time, Senior Mental Health Associate. The Senior Mental Health Associate (SMHA) is responsible for assisting the UNM in maintaining the overall milieu management & safety of patient and staff in the unit and collaborating effectively with unit RNs. Senior MHA will have the responsibility to oversee and ensure other MHAs complete their tasks as assigned. This is a full-time, day/evening rotation, every other weekend required, benefit eligible position. Job responsibilities: 1. Assists in the admission process under the direct supervision of the RN. 2. Completes non-clinical assignment tasks related to the Admission, transfer and discharge process. 3. Ascertains the need for and assists patients aged 12 and up with a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses in meeting immediate needs with the ultimate goal of self-maintenance under the direction of a RN. 4. Assists patients in carrying out their established treatment programs by collaborating with other team members and by participating in ongoing multidisciplinary team meetings with RN to assist in reporting of patients' progress. 5. Holds weekly meetings with the other MHAs in the unit and quarterly meetings with other SMHAs 6. Ensures all documents and reports on patient progress/regression are being accurately and on time completed by all other MHAs. 7. Acts as a role model and ensures all MHAs in the unit follow procedures which adhere to policies and practices prescribed by the hospital, Inpatient Services Program, and Nursing Services. 8. Encourages all MHAs to utilize opportunities for continuing education within or outside the hospital, which have implications for the care of patients, or which otherwise foster professional growth and development. 9. Ensures that all MHAs (including self) meet hospital attendance and dress code policy as described in Personnel Policy manual. 10. Ensures adequate supplies are maintained in the unit 11. Interacts with patients and visitors in a professional and respectful manner 12. Provides mentoring, on the job training and helps all new MHAs to adapt in their new role and conducts the 90-day MHA assessment under the guidance and support of the Nurse Manager 13. Participates into monthly staff meetings 14. Acts as the Human Rights Officer (HRO-patient advocate) for his/her unit 15. Acts as an active committee participant for unit base & hospital 16. Holds groups/ activities as assigned 17. Performs other duties as assigned/required 18. Participates in Train the Trainer (TtT) sessions and actively take part in cross-training for CPI, CPR, ECT, EKG or Service Excellence; holds training sessions for the Hospital employees on trainings have been certified to facilitate
