The goals of the Gastroenterology Division are to provide outstanding medical care to persons with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, to train gastroenterology and to perform cutting-edge biomedical research to improve our understanding of digestive diseases.
We have 40 full time faculty in the division including research and clinical faculty.
There are three strong goals that define the GI Division:
The first component is a strong biomedical research with faculty that is focused on innovative discovery-based research.
The second is the education and training of medical students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, GI research and GI Clinical fellows.
Third the clinical and endoscopic practice at Vanderbilt is focused on compassionate and outstanding patient care.
The position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week)
The position is DAY shift Monday – Friday

Training is provided (experienced staff will conduct orientation)
You will join a team with great comradery among staff members, great relationships with surgeons, and be in an environment where you can learn and grow due to the three rotational areas (Triage, Surgery and Recovery) in which you will be exposed
RN Licensure (BSN or Associate's Degree)
Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of Critical Care experience
Gastroenterology, Hepatology, or Endoscopy nursing experience highly desired
The department consists of procedure rooms, preoperative holding rooms, a post anesthesia care unit, pre-admission assessment and testing clinic and a postoperative recovery area - please confirm or add in the most up-to-date information.
There are 19 beds, 12 of which are fully equipped procedural rooms

You will apply the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicate pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborate in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
