Serve as the team leader for Medical/Surgical Unit/2West. Evaluates the Nursing needs of patients, develops plan of Nursing Care, initiates patient care assignments, implements and modifies them as needs change; provides or directs the provision of comprehensive Nursing care, delegates duties to appropriate personnel, teaching and supervising their work as needed. The position reports to Supervisory Clinical Nurse. This position is located at Indian Health Service (IHS), Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS), Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC), Division of Nursing Services, Medical/Surgical Unit/2West, Gallup, NM. The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3.
