The Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa-Carver College of Medicine is seeking to hire a Health Services Researcher or Rural Health Investigator for an appointment as an Associate or a Research Assistant Professor with expertise in health services research and rural health. Rank will be based upon experience or productivity. Successful candidates must have a PhD degree with an additional degree or post-doctoral training in public health or health services research preferred. Candidates will be required to develop an independently funded research program in the areas of healthcare organizations and delivery, healthcare access, rural health, mental health and/or women’s health. Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs and partnered research is preferred. Successful candidates must be able to collaborate with other faculty in the design and execution of innovative research programs and assist other faculty with statistical and survey measurement research methods.
The successful candidate is required to have excellent communication and leadership skills, excellent organization skills and demonstrate job-related experience with a commitment to diversity in the academic setting. In addition, the successful candidate must have a track-record of grant funding, at least three peer-reviewed publications as first/senior author, and expertise in health services research methods and design, particularly statistical and survey measurement methods. Suitable applicants would be expected to have hands on knowledge of large administrative databases, including Department of Veterans Affairs databases. Requirements include competency of appropriate software systems for manipulation of large datasets? proven ability to work with a wide variety of data structure, coding schemes, and data sources? and excellent skill in data manipulation and linkage of datasets.
