1. Performs various routine or special chemical, microscopic and serologic laboratory tests of body fluids, exudates and skin scrapings. 2. Evaluates test results for validity and accuracy, determining if tests should be reported or repeated.
3. PPID that includes handling and positive patient identification (all areas of PPID to include, but not be limited to, order entry, processing, etc.) according to established protocols. 4. Processes specimens according to established protocols
5. Performs various clerical duties related to day-to-day operations of the laboratory. Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment. Assists in maintaining adequate stock of supplies. Supports phlebotomy by blood collection, clerical duties, etc. if necessary.
Eligible for certification as MLT from ASCP, AMT; If classified as a POLT, AAB-must have 4 years experience
Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related science field; and MLT certification eligible; must maintain current certification; If POLT, must have AAB certification + 4 years experience
6 month-3 years general laboratory experience; if POLT, AAB must have 4 years experience
Working knowledge of laboratory computer system
Working knowledge of automated laboratory equipment
Knowledge of medical terminology
Working knowledge of all areas of general laboratory
