Planned Parenthood South Atlantic is seeking a Regional Director who will oversee the operations of multiple health centers.
The Regional Director provides leadership and support to health centers and is responsible for the growth and financial performance of centers in the assigned region. The Regional Director ensures delivery of high-quality reproductive health care including abortion and family planning services for women and men. They ensure productivity and financial expectations are met; and that customer service and compliance standards are maintained. The Regional Director leads change initiatives and abides by the organization’s mission in performing job duties. This position will oversee our western North Carolina health centers and ideally will reside in NC, SC or VA. Travel to multiple health centers is required.
Maintain direct contact with the health center and their center managers and assist with decision making as needed. Hold Health Center Managers (HCMs) accountable through regular communication and provide guidance and direction.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise HCMs in assigned region. Promote leadership skills and assure that HCMs have access to training and development opportunities
Develop, mentor and coach HCMs in the areas of performance management and change management and support staff development in building a creative, innovative, service-oriented culture. Build and reinforce a culture where center staff is personally accountable and takes pride in their work.
Provide management of staff and center in absence or vacancy of HCM.
Identify achievable goals with the Vice President for Patient Services’ input for all centers within region based on organizational, departmental, and regional strategic objectives. Communicate and monitor goals and health center strategic plans/vision to HCMs.
Ensure health center staff understands and complies with organization protocols including Medical Standards and Guidelines, risk management and safety procedures, regulations regarding patient rights, HIPAA requirements, regulations regarding identification and reporting of child abuse and sexual abuse of a minor, consent, infection control protocols, CLIA, billing and coding practices, and applicable OSHA safety standards.
Participate in annual budgeting process based on established goals and objectives and provide leadership in the annual planning process to present a plan that will support the region for the fiscal year. Routinely analyze data to ensure that each center is meeting its productivity and financial goals. Communicate any changes that result in budget decisions and leads change efforts in the health center.
Provide leadership in communicating, training, and ensuring compliance with PPSAT policies and administrative processes through staff meetings and other communications.
Continually seek to improve the work environment, processes, and staff relations. Maintain positive employee relations including proactively addressing potential employee concerns/problems and appropriately responding and documenting performance concerns and actions when necessary. Provide support to HCM for resolution of problems arising from staff-related issues and handling patient complaints. Engage with HR if resolution is not possible.
Support affiliate change initiatives on process improvement within health centers, focusing on improved customer satisfaction, compliance with medical policies and procedures, health center efficiency, and productivity.
Promote strong community presence in designated area as a Planned Parenthood representative to identify community leaders and to promote the agency as a provider of education, information and health services. Create partnerships with community organizations that can help Planned Parenthood tailor education or clinical services to meet the needs of specific populations.
Assist development staff with grant-related activities including reviewing grant applications and providing timely data and information for grant reports.
Provide management support for Title X, as appropriate, and works with Title X Director to ensure compliance.
Act as a liaison between finance and health centers to remove barriers and support and empower health center managers in the achievement of clinic goals.
Work collaboratively with public affairs and education staff to ensure PPSAT programs and services are integrated throughout the organization.
Participate in the RQM program to ensure high quality, efficient, customer-driven service delivery, following approved protocols and health center practices. Assist in reviewing, updating, and developing new RQM audit tools and checklists.
Participate in monitoring compliance of RQM activities, including required orientation and training as needed.
Organize, compile, and report data for all incidents as needed for staff training and meetings.
Participate in review and compilation of occurrence reports for annual summary for measurement and reporting on outcomes and trends, for training purposes, and quality improvement efforts.
Develop, implement, and lead new initiatives as directed by Vice President for Patient Services.
Adhere to assigned timelines and complete all required PPSAT, PPFA, and state mandated trainings.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field from accredited college or university. Education should encompass some or all of the following: information sharing, education/ training, women’s health, sexuality, public health, laboratory science.
Four to six years medical practice operations experience.
Minimum one year management or supervision experience in health care or customer service.
Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to function as both a leader and a team member.
Ability to perform effectively in a constantly changing, high-functioning environment.
Ability to communicate with patients and colleagues in a professional, warm and sensitive matter.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while affording attention to detail and organization.
Demonstrate commitment to nonjudgmental approach to provision of information and services and respect for confidentiality of client records and information.
Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Five to seven years related experience preferred.
Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating operational plans highly desirable.
Experience with practice management systems and electronic health records preferred
Experience within primary care and/or family medicine preferred
