Serves as an ambassador for cultural best practices of CHRISTUS Health as well as technical subject matter expert on provider and staff efficiency within the EMR.
This position is responsible being the EMR Technical lead for the operational aspect of the Ambulatory application. Additional responsibilities include training and support, clinic go lives, clinic optimizations, and project management support. The incumbent will work collaboratively with regional leadership, physicians, clinical staff, internal EMR team. The position is primarily responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing of clinic workflow optimization, provider efficiency optimization in targeted clinics, clinical and operational staff efficiency optimization within the EMR. The EMR Technical Specialist will also be responsible for making recommendations to the CMIO for system-wide ambulatory efficiency changes.
Subject Matter Expert of applicable practice management and EMR applications software with ability to troubleshoot software system.
Provide individual and group training and support upon request, and upon addition of new offices.
Provide elbow to elbow support for clinical staff, mid-levels, and physicians.
Lead optimization of clinical workflows through on-site review and in office support.
Lead acceleration of provider workflows in order to increase patient satisfaction and clinical quality in order to meet system goals.
Develop recommendations about accessing information and support.
Ability to create custom reports and understanding output values in order to optimize workflows.
Mentors and trains corporate team members and regional super users to become subject matter experts.
Effectively communicates relevant software related information to team and superiors.
Resolves and or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Keeps track of lessons learned and shares with team members.
Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
Continually seeks opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems for assigned areas.
Works in conjunction with Executive Director, Regional Ambulatory PI Director, Clinic Operations Specialist, Nurse Manager Services, Clinic Staff and Providers.
Serves as liaison between clinic and external agencies.
Reviews and analyzes facility activities and data to aid planning and process improvement with the practice management and EMR products.
Prepares activity reports to inform senior leadership and regional management of the status of implementation plans and projects.
Maintains awareness of advances in data and processing technology, government regulations, and health insurance changes.
Maintains strong working knowledge of and ability to implement policies and procedures for medical facilities.
Follows the CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission.

Minimum 6 years' experience with Epic Systems EMR. Experience must include training and system support on Practice Management/EMR system. Must be able to troubleshoot computer software, administer software, think analytically and solve problem related to system and workflow issues, decision making, stress management, mentor, and time management skills. Expected to have an advanced understanding of medical terminology, working knowledge of interface set-up and resolution, as well as web technology. Must be competent utilizing Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Must have proven organizational skills with an ability to effectively prioritize, present information publicly, and communicate in writing clearly, concisely, thoroughly, and accurately. Must understand the integration of applications and their impact on business processes and operations. Customer orientated with exceptional customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as mentor and train internal team members.
