Well-established busy practice in a fast growing community with easy access to Atlanta currently looking for a hard working and dedicated Family, Geriatric and/or Internal Medicine physician to join our team of dedicated providers. The ideal candidate would be someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and wants to have a meaningful impact on each patient's experience with our practice. A great physician is a highly qualified professional and a compassionate individual. You must be very knowledgeable in regards to diseases, epidemiology and other medical conditions so you can interpret symptoms and diagnose conditions. You must also be very detail oriented with documentation to include correct medical terminology, grammar, and punctuation. The job can be demanding so a great deal of patience and physical endurance is required. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conduct routine check-ups to patients to assess their health condition and discover possible issues
Conduct minor surgical procedures
Give appropriate advice for healthy habits and preventative actions to improve quality of life
Conduct examinations to sick or injured patients and evaluate symptoms to determine their condition and refer patients to other physicians when needed (ophthalmologists, orthopedists, neurologists, cardiologists, etc)
Review incoming reports (e.g. labs, x-ray, EKG, ultrasounds, ect.) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner
Prescribe medication in accordance with Georgia statute and professional practice guidelines along with comprehensive instructions for administration
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examination, patients' medical history, family history, surgical history and other significant information (e.g. allergic episodes)
Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for patients
Supervise other health-care workers, mid-level practitioners, Medical Assistants, technicians, etc.
Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings
Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested
Collaborate with other physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses and medical assistants to form a high performing medical team
Remain current with developments and best practices in medicine by attending conferences/seminars and educational material
Shared on-call services between other providers
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathy (DO) degree and valid license to practice as such
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family or Internal Medicine. If Board Eligible at the time of hire, must be Board Certified within 2 years of hire date
- No board sanctions or actions in the last 10 years
- Previous experience with geriatric population preferred
- Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics with
- Excellent knowledge of infectious diseases, their symptoms and epidemiology
- Excellent knowledge of Geriatric medicine to include high risk medications
- Broad knowledge of common medications, side effects and contraindications
- In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and best practices
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Respect for patient's confidentiality
- Excellent bedside manner and time management skills
