The Charles George VA Medical Center has an immediate opening for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to work full time in Surgery Service. The candidatewillperform coronary artery bypass, valveprocedures; open general thoracic procedures (lungs/esophagus) and other cardiovascular procedures.
Expertise is required in the following procedures:
Valve replacement and repair
Coronary bypass surgery
General Thoracic procedures, including lung/esophagel resection
Work Schedule:Monday thru Friday, from 07:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. with call Functional Statement Title/#: Cardiothoracic Surgeon/#000000
Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge of extensive TEVAR procedures, advanced VATS procedures, and clinical research. Board certified/eligible in CT surgery.

Physical Requirements: Functional requirements include the following abilities: Heavy lifting 45 pounds and over, light carrying under 15 pounds, walking for (4) hours, standing for four (4) hours,ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other eye, ability to distinguish shades of color, hear the whispered voice (aid permitted).
