PART-TIME CONTRACT POSITION
Your opportunity: Here is an outstanding opportunity to make the most of your skills while enhancing the lives of others in meaningful, lasting ways. Reporting to medical director and working under the guidance of the chief medical officer, the professional we select for this vitally important role will provide education and consultation services to patients and families in alignment with our mission, vision, and goals, as well as all quality-outcome and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include:
Serving as a consultant to the medical director, nurse practitioners, clinical staff, and patient physicians as requested.
Providing consultative services to the admitting RN and attending physicians at the time of admission.
Certifying and recertifying patient eligibility for hospice services as required by state and federal regulations.
Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in establishing, maintaining, and updating an individual plan of care for each patient.
Providing direct physician services in the absence of the attending physician or to complement the services of the CMO or attending physician nurses.
Providing ongoing education and consultation regarding medical issues.
Actively participating in the quality improvement program.
Maintaining knowledge of the most current trends and treatments in hospice and palliative medicine.
Representing Hospice of Washington County to medical and non-medical communities through presentations, meetings, and media to enhance our reputation and image within the local communities we serve.
Advising, assisting, and participating in the orientation and training of clinical staff and volunteers.
Current licensure as an M.D. or D.O. in the state of Maryland required.
Advanced knowledge of the hospice philosophy and concept essential.
Demonstrated compassion for and expertise with terminally ill patients and their families a must.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Certification in hospice and palliative medicine and/or EPEC Trainer preferred.
