Under the direction of a Galileo Search Interim Director of Risk Management, this position serves as a consulting resource for two acute care hospitals to include their medical staffs and leadership teams on issues related to risk management.
Activities include the identification, evaluation and mitigation of loss exposures. The Risk Management Consultant identifies, analyzes and acts upon actual and potential exposures to the organization with a goal of improved patient safety and protection of the organization’s assets. This is also accomplished through education and collaboration with all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities includes assessing, planning, implementing, managing, and coordinating the risk management activities. These activities include management, analysis, monitoring and reporting of risk management information, occurrence tracking, medical, safety, and quality follow-up to ensure preventative measures are in place and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Additional responsibilities will include insurance coverage and risk financing, management of claims against the facility, interfacing with legal counsel, analysis and management of safety/environment of care issues. The selected Risk Management Consultant will conduct risk management educational programs with the objective of controlling and minimizing loss to protect the health system. As the organization’s interim subject matter expert, the Risk Management Consultant will provide advice to team members, physicians and other healthcare practitioners.
This is a highly independent position working with all levels of the organization. Excellent skills in communication and conflict resolution. Ability to facilitate discussion involving diverse group of people. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to use good judgment in stressful situations. Consistently demonstrates team skills. Ability to handle multiple projects/problems at one time with poise and skill. Handles face to face communication with patients, families, employees and physicians with sensitivity and empathy.
