The Lab Manager plans, manages and supervises the activities of the laboratory and performs technical analytical procedures requiring knowledge and techniques in areas such as hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, serology, urinalysis, coagulation and phlebotomy as ordered by the physician. Manages laboratory Quality including, without limitation, participation in Quality programs, documentation and compilation of statistics, appropriate Quality manuals, and evaluation of control tests. Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting for laboratory instrumentation. Must be able to oversee the work of others and make fair judgment about work skills and behaviors. Trains or supervises the training of others. Manages the overall lab operation; develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance, safety, security, quality and accuracy of results; designs and performs test procedures; analyzes requests for tests and equipment; performs and documents performance improvement projects; participates in proficiency program and submits results timely; handles administrative and management matters; prepares (subject to approval) and manages the lab budget including cost containment plans. Manages work load including possible coverage of the bench. Works collaboratively with management team and meets organization-wide goals.
PSMC is a progressive, patient centered facility, which opened its doors in 2008. The hospital is licensed for 11 beds and has Board Certified physicians caring for patients via our level IV trauma center. Other services include surgery, orthopedics, women’s health, imaging including CT and MRI, lab services, emergency medical services and infusion. Our Rural Health Clinic currently has 14 exam r...ooms, and construction is underway to create over double the space with completion projected for Spring of 2017.
