SAMARITAN HOSPICE & PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES
SAMARITAN IS SOUTH JERSEY'S LARGEST HOSPICE
Founded more than 30 years ago as South Jersey’s first hospice, Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice is the leading provider of hospice and palliative care for our region. As a not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to fulfilling our charitable mission of providing exceptional care that promotes comfor...t, support, and quality of life for those living with serious illness or grief.
Samaritan can provide hospice care wherever you live, including your home, assisted living facility or nursing home. When needed, we can also serve patients in our inpatient hospice centers.
WHAT ARE SAMARITAN HOSPICE'S SERVICES?
Samaritan Hospice offers a number of hospice and palliative services that set us apart:
Hospice care, which provides comfort and quality of life at the end of life, rather than seeking to cure terminal illness. Hospice provides a team of professionals to address each patient’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, and offers support to the family both before and after their loved one’s death.
Palliative Medical Partners, Samaritan’s board-certified physician practice, which focuses on enhancing patients’ comfort and quality of life. Services are available at any point during illness, and can help patients tolerate curative or life-lengthening treatments.
Transitions, an array of support services to help patients during and after medical treatments, including telephone check-ins, volunteer companions, help in understanding medical information, and other communication and social services.
Grief support groups and counseling. Samaritan offers more than a dozen support groups for different ages and situations – from young children to those grieving a suicide, from adult daughters without mothers to men-only groups. One-on-one bereavement counseling is also available.
We Honor Veterans program, a groundbreaking national initiative to honor and support military veterans receiving hospice care. Veterans receive a range of customized services at Samaritan -- one of only six N.J. hospice providers to earn 4 stars, the program’s highest rating.
Samaritan Catholic and Jewish hospice programs. These programs provide support from a culturally sensitive team, including clergy, that respects and emphasizes the religion’s traditions, rituals and customs.
Educational programs. Samaritan offers an array of free seminars for community groups, healthcare professionals, funeral directors, financial planners, attorneys, and accountants. We also provide extensive educational materials and resources on end-of-life planning, hospice care and more.
